Gorgeous new exterior varnish job just completed
Shannons are high quality sailboats known for their soundness of construction, seaworthiness, and attractive lines as discussed in some detail in Ferenc Mate's book, "The Worlds Best Sailboats".
All Shannon sailboats are "semi custom", with the hull being standard and everything else custom designed through discussions with the owner. Thus, it takes some time to build one, and they are rather expensive. A significant factor in the cost lies in the owner's specifications.
"The Shannon 39 is an extremely well-built and finished product. It is a boat that one would quickly come to know and feel safe in no matter how harsh the conditions. Comfortable below and on deck, she is destined to become the final yacht purchase for a lot of experienced cruisers" -Sailing
The classic lines, beauty and ease of handling make the Shannon 39 the perfect boat for a single hander or couple to sail and live aboard. They are extremely well built and excellent ocean sailing capability with speed and seaworthiness.
MISTIE is a Shannon 39, essentially an upgraded version of the very popular Shannon 38, There are only 9 of these boats in existence and she is the prettiest, with her teak rub rail and 4 teak framed cockpit cubby holes rather than the usual 2 large unframed ones. The interior finish is all teak with white cabin overhead and many little extras such as wine storage and extra drawers built into the salon table and the salon side of the galley counter. The keel stepped mast is located out of sight in the head.
In 2014, Shannon estimated that a new 39 built to similar specifications would be priced around $800,000.

DETAILS
The Shannon 39 mirrors the improvements over the last two decades in roller furling, selftailing winches, auto pilots, refrigeration, electronics, foam core composite fiberglass technology, and even equipment as mundane as gel cell batteries. The internal lead ballast encapsulated in the hull - molded keel, together with the hull section shape with all bulkheads bonded to it results in a stiff and stable boat even in heavy air. The 39 is a middleweight, suitable as a coastal cruiser or true blue water passage-maker.
The sail plan on the 39 combines the performance attributes of a sloop with the versatility of a cutter. The 39 is designed to be rigged with a conventional stem roller furling genoa. Three feet forward on the bow-anchor platform is another stay that accepts a yankee jib. To keep folks totally off the deck when the wind picks up, the 39 is set up with the continuous line reefing on the mainsail, and the halyards all lead to the cockpit. In addition, this 39 has an inner stay point for use in converting this "scutter rig" to a conventional cutter setup if desired. It also serves as the attachment point for an included wire stay and storm jib. All stays except for this are Navtec rod.
The V-berth with filler has maximum width at the shoulders, enough foot room and length, and a lower berth height for easier entry. The pullout settees and the quarter berth are all excellent sea bunks combined with the pilot berth and V-berth. AC and DC outlets are located throughout the boat.
